Combating Internet Fraud: Effective Measures

Internet fraud has become a significant threat to everyone today. Scammers impersonate government authorities, extort money, and make threats. At the conference "Internet Fraud: Counteraction, Prevention, Communication", held at Zakon.kz, measures to combat this issue were thoroughly discussed. The meeting was moderated by Dana Aitmaganbetovna, General Director of Fortune Partners, and Marat Bashimov, a Member of Parliament.

Actions Taken by State Authorities

State agencies are actively implementing solutions to counter fraud:

65 million fraudulent calls have been stopped.

800 million KZT have been returned to victims.

A fraud center under the National Bank has been established to block suspicious transactions.

The Cyber Police at the Ministry of Internal Affairs handles investigations into such crimes promptly.

Extensive awareness campaigns are conducted through media, social networks, educational, and religious institutions.

New Initiatives

The following new measures were introduced:

Implementing a 24-hour "cooling-off" period for transactions, allowing time to block them if needed.

Holding banks accountable for data leaks and transfers to fraudulent accounts.

Tightening control over intermediary accounts and prosecuting "droppers" (money mules) involved in fraud schemes.

Proposals from the Conference

Strengthen accountability of organizations for personal data leaks.

Introduce fraud analytics systems to track fraudulent schemes.

Enhance communication with citizens through social media and awareness programs.

Legislative Initiatives

MP Marat Bashimov proposed turning these ideas into legislative initiatives aimed at protecting citizens from fraud.

At Fortune Partners, we are proud that our General Director, Dana Aitmaganbetovna, contributed to this critical discussion. The work to ensure safety continues!
