Atyrau: "Tax Practice 2026" professional meeting
On 10 September, Fortune Partners held its professional meeting "Tax Practice 2026" in Atyrau. The event took place at the River Palace Hotel and addressed taxation under the new conditions: 2026 is shaping a new body of practice in the application of tax legislation — from how provisions are interpreted to how the authorities approach audits and disputes.
What was discussed
- The new Tax Code and how its provisions work in practice. There is always a gap between the text of a law and its application, and the first year of the Code has shown where that gap lies.
- Forthcoming amendments — what has already been agreed between business and the state, and which questions remain open.
- The approach of the tax authorities: what they look at during audits and which circumstances prompt additional assessments.
- Court practice — which positions are becoming settled in judgments, and how this changes defence strategy.
- Tax risks: how to identify them in advance and what can be done before a notice arrives.
- Pre-trial appeals — when this mechanism genuinely works and when it is more effective to go straight to court.
- A separate part of the programme was given over to real cases from our practice of supporting audits and disputes.
