The current Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan has tightened requirements for businesses: the liability of facility operators has been strengthened, and new requirements for Category I facilities have been introduced. Violations of environmental legislation can result in substantial fines (including those equal to economic benefit) as well as suspension of enterprise operations.
Our team members have unique experience representing the interests of industrial enterprises in multi-billion environmental disputes. We also have experience successfully challenging environmental inspections regarding exceedances of emission/discharge standards, absence of pollutants in projects, and waste management.
